Þingvellir to Nyrðra-Hádegisfell

The trip was mainly about shooting the Northern Lights Friday night, as everything was finally lined up, including a clear cold night. I slept under the stars, in Þingvellir National Park, and probably woke up every 20/30m but I didn't see any Northern Lights. In the morning I decided to make the best out of the great weather and drove up next to Langjökull, walked along Nyrðra-Hádegisfell (865m) and climbed it on the way back.

The car slept outside too, close to -10°C

Autumn colors are still visible, but soon the winter will take over

Already a lot of snow by and on the track

Almost every single rock has a face covered with ice

Not very deep at all, but soon the snowshoes will be useful

Beautiful ice art by mother nature. The river froze, starting form the top, then the water level lowered and left this very thin ice sheet delicately hanging over the river

More ice art on the river, this time I can't tell if the wind or the river is the artist, maybe a collaboration between the two

Soon everything will be white, covered by snow
